Prior to the weekend, the couple had kept their relationship largely private, only confirming their status back in August after two years of speculation. This secrecy was put aside on race day, as the 26-year-old Norris exited his McLaren, embraced his parents and then turned to Corceiro, who was in tears as they celebrated his win.
“There’s no rule for going public. I thought it made sense,” she explained, noting that in that moment, she was oblivious to the cameras capturing their interaction. “It was such an important moment that I didn’t even remember that.”
Corceiro also addressed past controversy surrounding a comment she made, suggesting that Norris’s main title rival, Max Verstappen, “just wins by luck.” The remark had drawn criticism from the Red Bull driver’s supporters, but she stated she remains unfazed by the backlash. “I don’t know what criticisms are being talked about… They don’t bother me and they don’t change my daily life,” she added.
The couple, who first met a few years ago, have recently grown closer, with Norris previously describing Corceiro as someone with whom he can truly be himself. “It’s nice when we can both just [rent] a boat for the day or go home together and chill,” he said, emphasizing the comfort their relationship brings amidst the pressures of his career.
