Manchester City edges past Leeds United in tight match

Manchester City secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Leeds United at Elland Road, keeping their Premier League title ambitions very much alive, reports BritPanorama.

The win leaves Pep Guardiola’s squad trailing league leaders Arsenal by just two points as the season approaches its critical conclusion.

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo was the match-winner, scoring just before halftime to settle a hard-fought encounter in West Yorkshire. Semenyo latched onto a precise low cross from Rayan Ait-Nouri, managing to guide the ball into the net for what ultimately proved to be the decisive moment.

This marked Semenyo’s sixth goal for City since his arrival from Bournemouth in January. Despite the tight scoreline, the champions faced a tough challenge from a spirited Leeds side that created opportunities throughout the first half.

For Leeds, the defeat leaves them six points clear of the relegation zone, raising concerns as they strive for survival in the league. City played without their key striker Erling Haaland, who was sidelined due to an injury picked up during training.

Leeds appeared the more dynamic side early on, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin squandering a clear chance within minutes of kick-off. He narrowly missed converting Brenden Aaronson’s delivery, which could have set a different tone for the match.

Calvert-Lewin came close again shortly after, sending another effort off-target from a challenging position as Leeds pressed for an opener. The former Everton striker’s failure to capitalize on these opportunities ultimately proved costly, as Semenyo’s goal allowed City to maintain their pursuit of the title.

With this result, City remains just two points behind Arsenal, who can extend their lead back to five points if they overcome Chelsea in their upcoming fixture.

As the campaign unfolds, the tension in the title race only intensifies, illustrating how finely balanced fortunes can be at this stage of the season.
