Lewis Hamilton to be Replaced for Mexican Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton will be replaced for the first practice session of the Mexican Grand Prix as Ferrari announces rookie Antonio Fuoco as his substitute, reports BritPanorama.
Hamilton faced challenges in the previous race, finishing fourth after suspecting a puncture, which saw him narrowly maintain his position ahead of championship leader Oscar Piastri. He has yet to miss any sessions this season, however, Ferrari’s decision reflects the team’s adherence to regulations that require teams to field a rookie during at least two practice sessions per season.
Fuoco, 29, who has served as a development and simulator driver for Ferrari, will make his debut in F1 machinery during the first session in Mexico. His announcement appeared on social media, where he expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity: “Got the call. Mexico see you on track for FP1 Let’s do this.”
The decision comes as both George Russell and Max Verstappen will also be replaced for their respective teams, with Fred Vesti and Red Bull junior Arvid Lindblad taking their places. Meanwhile, Hamilton has expressed that he is gradually getting more comfortable with his new Ferrari after switching from Mercedes, stating, “I’m finally feeling like I’m on top of the car.”
This move underscores Ferrari’s strategy as they integrate new talent while continuing to pursue competitive performance in the championship.
