Liverpool’s Fulham game delayed due to medical emergency
Liverpool’s Premier League match against Fulham has been postponed for 15 minutes following a medical emergency at Craven Cottage, reports BritPanorama.
Fulham confirmed the delay in a social media statement: “Due to a medical emergency at the ground, kick-off has been delayed by 15 minutes.”
A banner announcing the “15-minute delay to kick off” was displayed in the stadium. The medical emergency reportedly involved a member of staff, prompting an ambulance to be called to the scene. As a result, both teams were required to remain off the pitch while the situation was addressed.
Liverpool players utilized the waiting time by playing passes among themselves on the pitch. Meanwhile, Fulham opted to stay warmed up in their dressing room amid freezing temperatures. The kick-off is now scheduled for 3:15 pm.
Prior to the match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed hopes of extending his team’s unbeaten run to nine games. After facing a slump before the festive period, the Reds have since rekindled their form and aim to secure a strong performance against Fulham.
Elsewhere in English football, freezing conditions have led to the cancellation of 16 EFL games over the weekend, with temperatures plummeting to as low as -10°C in some areas. This cold snap rendered many pitches unplayable, despite groundstaff’s attempts to prepare for the fixtures.
As the weather continues to impact football schedules, the situation underscores the unpredictable nature of the sport, reminding fans that sometimes the true action occurs off the field.
