Lee Andrews bids for Chelsea stake
Katie Price’s fourth husband, Lee Andrews, has made a bold claim that he is seeking to acquire a 55 per cent majority stake in Chelsea Football Club, reports BritPanorama.
The 42-year-old businessman based in Dubai stated, “There’s a bit of a verification process and I’ll only obtain 55 per cent, obviously for quite a large amount. I can’t tell you all the workings and inner parts to my wealth but definitely the money is there.”
Andrews further commented, “And they have to accept and they have to verify, but it will be going in. It sounds crazy, it sounds ambitious, but watch this space.” His claims of considerable wealth have raised eyebrows since his entry into the public eye this year.
Chelsea’s current ownership under American tycoon Todd Boehly saw a £4.25 billion takeover of the club in 2022. Boehly’s estimated wealth ranges from $8.4 billion to $9.3 billion, contrasting sharply with Andrews’ claimed annual earnings of between £2 million to £5 million from various US investments.
The football club has faced challenges, cycling through five managers, including current England boss Thomas Tuchel, and reporting a £262.4 million pre-tax loss for the 2024/2025 season.
Questions surrounding Andrews’ credibility have persisted, as Cambridge University denied any knowledge of him, despite his claims of holding a PhD from the prestigious institution. Katie Price later noted that his doctorate was obtained in Spain rather than from Cambridge.
Andrews’ ex-fiancée, Alana Percival, accused him of being a “scammer,” alleging that he has made false claims regarding his achievements and wealth.
Meanwhile, Andrews remains active on social media, making posts about aspirations of becoming a “future trillionaire” and being part of “the 1%.”
In a world where fortunes can change rapidly, Andrews’ audacious ambition serves as a stark reminder of the interplay between celebrity and sport, and how bold declarations can capture the imagination of fans and investors alike.
