Former Manchester United teammate criticizes David Beckham amid family feud

John O’Kane, a former teammate of David Beckham from their time at Manchester United, has publicly criticized the football icon, aligning himself with Brooklyn Beckham’s recent Instagram revelations regarding alleged family discord. O’Kane’s comments appear to support Brooklyn, who has claimed that his parents endeavored to sabotage his marriage to Nicola Peltz, reports BritPanorama.

O’Kane, 51, who was part of United’s renowned Class of ’92, took to social media platform X to express his views. “I lived with Beckham for a few years… Let’s just say he likes to be in TOTAL CONTROL and was OBSESSIVE on PERFECTION,” he wrote. His commentary followed Brooklyn’s assertion that familial pressures were a major strain on his relationship.

Reflecting on his experience, O’Kane stated, “Brand Beckham should not come before your kids no matter what has happened!” The former defender shared that he lived with Beckham during their shared time at the club from 1989 to 1998, offering a personal glimpse into the dynamics at play.

Brooklyn Beckham’s remarks have intensified the scrutiny around the Beckham family, with allegations that his mother, Victoria, withdrawn from designing his wedding gown at the last moment, a decision that left Brooklyn’s wife upset. In his account, Brooklyn claimed his parents pressured him to sign away rights to his name prior to his wedding, suggesting these actions have forever altered his relationship with them.

The 26-year-old went on to describe further familial strife, detailing media attacks aimed at him and alleging that his brothers were instructed to undermine him on social media before they each blocked him last summer. Additionally, Brooklyn recounted a personal anecdote regarding his absence from David’s 50th birthday, where he and Nicola reportedly spent an entire week in a hotel waiting for a chance to connect with David, only to be met with conditions that excluded Nicola.

Brooklyn also reflected on the psychological effects stemming from his upbringing, stating, “For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.” He expressed a desire for him and Nicola to lead a life free from public scrutiny, seeking peace and happiness as they build their future together.

As of now, neither David nor Victoria Beckham has publicly responded to the allegations made by their son, amidst a backdrop of intense media interest and speculation surrounding the family’s circumstances.

In the world of celebrity, the prying eyes of the public often blur the lines between personal life and public persona, reminding us that familial relationships can be as complicated as any high-stakes match. The Beckham saga continues to unravel, but one wonders: how much longer can the facade of perfection endure under such scrutiny?
