Jeff Stelling has announced that he will take a two-week break from his talkSPORT Breakfast show, clarifying that the hiatus is for some well-deserved rest and relaxation, reports BritPanorama.
The 70-year-old broadcaster made his intentions known at the conclusion of Tuesday’s programme. However, a graphic shared on social media by talkSPORT, which has since been removed, initially sparked concerns among listeners regarding his absence.
Stelling quickly addressed the worries by responding directly to the now-deleted post, stating, “Just for clarity, a couple of weeks off.” His announcement follows both his own clarifications during the show and the social media misunderstanding.
He reassured his audience, emphasizing his plans to chill and relax during this brief period away, saying, “I’ll see you when I’m back.” Stelling joined talkSPORT after leaving Sky Sports in 2023, where he had enjoyed a long career spanning three decades. He currently co-hosts the Breakfast show with former Rangers and Scotland striker Ally McCoist from 6am to 10am on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
Stelling’s announcement comes shortly after co-host Alan Brazil had to take time off due to health issues, where he stated, “I had a big infection in my right ear and my left ear was blocked.” This context adds to the station’s recent fluctuations in personnel.
