Jake Paul offers health update following defeat to Anthony Joshua, suspects broken jaw

Jake Paul sustains injury during defeat to Anthony Joshua

Jake Paul has insisted he’s doing fine but admitted that he may have sustained a broken jaw during his defeat to Anthony Joshua on Saturday morning, reports BritPanorama.

The former YouTuber lasted six rounds but, after being knocked to the canvas twice in the fifth, ultimately took one punch too many. Paul was quizzed on how he was feeling after the second loss of his professional career, having previously been defeated by Tommy Fury in 2023.

And though he admitted his jaw was sore, the 28-year-old still cut a positive figure. “I’m feeling good, that was fun, I gave it my all, I had a blast,” Paul said. “Anthony’s a great fighter, and I got my a** beat, but that’s what this sport is all about, and I’m going to keep on coming back and keep on winning. I’ve already won every single day in life… I think my jaw is broken.”

Meanwhile, for Joshua, the Briton conceded that he wasn’t at his brilliant, bruising best despite the securing the knockout he craved. He also insisted that Paul deserved immense respect for taking the bout in the first place, despite the size and experience differences between the pair. “First of all, I wanna give love to the crowd,” he said in the ring.

“It wasn’t the best performance. The end goal was to get Jake Paul, pin him down, hurt him – that has been the request leading up. It took a bit longer than expected, but the right hand finally found its destination. Jake Paul has done really well tonight. I wanna give him his props; it takes a real man to do that,” Joshua added.

Prior to the clash, reports swirled that Joshua had already agreed to fight Tyson Fury in a battle that would capture the imaginations of millions around the world. That’s something the 36-year-old would relish. “Let’s see you in the ring and talk with our fists,” he said when asked about Fury.

The evening highlighted not just the potential of rising names but also the ongoing challenges faced by established fighters. For Paul, this bout may serve as a lesson learned on the path to legitimacy in boxing, while for Joshua, it raises expectations for future performances — and whether he can reclaim his former glory.
