Jack Grealish fined for traffic violation

England and Everton midfielder Jack Grealish has been handed a court bill totalling £1,044 following an incident involving his luxury Lamborghini in Liverpool last autumn, reports BritPanorama.

The 30-year-old’s £210,000 supercar was captured on camera breaching a red traffic signal on the outskirts of the city centre in September 2025. Merseyside Police subsequently prosecuted Grealish, though not for the traffic light violation itself.

Rather, he was convicted of failing to provide information to officers regarding who was behind the wheel of his distinctive sky blue vehicle at the time of the offence. The incident occurred at precisely 11.36PM on September 12, 2025, as Grealish’s vehicle travelled along Leeds Street and Vauxhall Road.

According to evidence presented to Liverpool Magistrates’ Court, the Lamborghini passed through the traffic signal a mere 1.4 seconds after it had turned red. Kevin Scott, safer roads unit manager for Merseyside Police, provided a statement detailing the circumstances captured by camera footage. Notably, the late-night drive came just hours before Grealish took to the pitch for Everton.

Following the incident, police dispatched correspondence to a Manchester address in September requesting Grealish confirm the identity of the driver that evening. When this initial attempt yielded no response, officers sent a further letter in November to a £5.6 million property in Cheshire. Scott informed the court that the footballer had “failed to comply” with the requirement to identify who was operating the vehicle.

Court records indicate Grealish did not enter a plea, with the matter resolved through a single justice procedure. This fast-track process handles minor offences through written evidence without a formal courtroom hearing. The original red light charge was withdrawn, though magistrate Paul Farquhar found him guilty of failing to provide driver identification when required, imposing six penalty points on his licence.

The financial penalty comprised a £660 fine, £120 in costs, and a £264 victim surcharge. Grealish, who became Britain’s most expensive footballer when Manchester City paid £100 million for his services in 2021, is currently on loan at Everton. However, his campaign has now been cut short by injury; he confirmed this week that he has undergone surgery for a stress fracture in his foot.

Posting from his hospital bed on Instagram, he wrote: “Didn’t want the season to end like this but that’s football, gutted.”
