Jacek Magiera, the assistant coach of Poland’s men’s national team, has died at the age of 49 after reportedly collapsing during a morning run, reports BritPanorama.

Magiera had served as assistant to the national team since July 2024. His coaching journey followed a distinguished playing career, where he dedicated nearly two decades to Legia Warsaw, initially as a centre-back before transitioning into management.
During his tenure, Magiera’s crowning achievement came when he guided Legia through the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League group stage, securing a memorable 1-0 victory over Sporting CP and a notable 3-3 draw against Real Madrid, which allowed the club to progress to the Europa League knockout rounds.
Polish FA President Cezary Kulesza expressed profound shock over Magiera’s sudden loss. “With great sadness and disbelief, I received the news of Jacek Magiera’s death,” he stated. “It is difficult to find the right words in the face of such a sudden and completely unexpected loss.”
