ITV broadcasting error leaves EFL fans missing key goal in Huddersfield's win

ITV broadcasting error omits decisive goal in Huddersfield’s win

ITV faced criticism following a significant broadcasting error during their English Football League Highlights programme, which left viewers unaware of the decisive goal in Huddersfield’s victory over Leyton Orient, reports BritPanorama.

Ryan Ledson scored the winner in the 16th minute of added time, clinching all three points for the Terriers. This late strike capped a dramatic match that had seen Huddersfield come back from an earlier setback.

Presented by Hugh Woozencroft, the highlights show bewildered audiences by failing to show this crucial moment, with ITV additionally listing an incorrect final score of 1-1 instead of the actual 2-1 result.

Ledson’s goal came after teammate Bojan Radulovic equalised, responding to an own goal by Leyton Orient’s Radinio Balker in the first half. Supporters expressed their frustration on social media, highlighting the severe nature of this oversight in ITV’s coverage.

Fans criticized the network’s handling of EFL highlights with notable remarks emphasizing the need for improved broadcasting standards. One user stated, “The EFL need to find better guardians for TV highlights than this awful ITV programme.” Another lamented the comparison to BBC’s previous coverage, which was seen as more engaging and effective.

With this victory, Huddersfield sits three points behind the League One play-off positions as they strive for promotion. Conversely, Leyton Orient is in a vulnerable state, just four points above the relegation zone despite having reached the Championship play-off final last season. The Terriers are navigating the season without manager Liam Manning, who is on compassionate leave.

This incident serves as a reminder of how the stakes and passions of football can intersect sharply with broadcasting responsibilities, leaving viewers demanding better from their highlights shows.
