Ian Wright indignant over Eni Aluko’s comments

Ian Wright is ‘indignant’ over Eni Aluko’s latest comments about him, though the former Arsenal star won’t be responding to them publicly, reports BritPanorama.

Aluko sparked controversy last year when she suggested Wright and other male pundits were ‘blocking’ women from broadcasting opportunities in the women’s game. The ex-England Lionesses star then proceeded to apologise but Wright refused to accept it, making his stance abundantly clear.

Earlier this month, the feud reignited as Aluko called the 62-year-old ‘childish’ and ‘disrespectful’ while appearing on a popular podcast. She also argued that men had taken opportunities away from women during Euro 2025, specifically targeting Nedum Onuoha.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, Wright feels ‘indignant’ after Aluko’s recent verbal tirade. He is reportedly refusing to respond publicly because he doesn’t want to ‘dignify’ her remarks. Wright’s response indicates a desire to disengage from the escalating feud.

Ever since Aluko first targeted Wright last year, ITV have distanced themselves from the pundit, releasing a statement backing Wright for championing and helping to grow the women’s game over the years. Aluko has suggested that ‘budget cuts’ were behind her lack of recent appearances with the broadcaster, claiming she was told her contract wasn’t the priority.

Despite the tension, the report reveals that Wright has been ‘willing to discreetly help her,’ but with ITV holding the final say, his position limits his ability to assist Aluko in securing the spotlight she seeks. Opinions within the women’s game regarding Aluko are mixed; while some describe her as difficult to work with, others recognize her knowledge and credentials as deserving of a higher platform.

How her relationship with Wright evolves after this month’s controversy remains to be seen, highlighting the complexities and dynamics within sports broadcasting as both alignments and divisions continue to surface.
