Housekeeper and security guard arrested for attempting to steal £175,000 in watches from Iker Casillas

Two Arrested in Theft of Iker Casillas’ Luxury Watches

Police have reportedly arrested two people on suspicion of stealing five watches worth £175,000 from Iker Casillas’ home, reports BritPanorama.

The suspects include an unnamed woman believed to have attempted to swap the real watches for fake ones at the property where the former Spanish footballer resides. The second arrested individual, as per Spanish media reports, is a security guard employed at the estate.

“Police have already handed the suspects over to the courts,” noted Pozuelo IN, indicating the swift action taken following the incident.

Details of the alleged theft suggest the couple planned to dismantle the watches to sell their parts rather than sell them directly, complicating the traceability of the stolen goods. Among the missing items are gold Rolex watches valued at over €50,000 (£43,500) each, and investigators believe the total value of everything taken may be significantly higher.

Iker Casillas, known for his passion for luxury watches, reportedly noticed irregularities in his collection, which led him to alert the police and initiate an investigation that resulted in the arrests. “They devised a plan to steal the watches without arousing suspicion,” investigators added.

The police stated, “Casillas kept his collection in different rooms of his home, without a detailed inventory,” suggesting that his extensive collection reflected his long-standing interest in high-end timepieces. After discovering counterfeits among his belongings, Casillas filed a complaint, prompting discreet police surveillance of his home.

Authorities quickly began investigating a suspect who was familiar with the watch collection’s location and extent. In a controlled operation, officers were able to confirm their suspicions, leading them to the couple’s abode, where they uncovered fragments of dismantled watches matching those in Casillas’ collection.

Spain’s National Police confirmed: “The theft of five high-end watches from the home of a former professional footballer in Madrid was solved in less than 10 days.” So far, two watches have been recovered, and the suspects have appeared in court, subsequently being released on conditional bail. Iker Casillas has, as yet, not commented publicly on the situation.

The case encapsulates the intersection of privilege and vulnerability — how even those who live in grandeur can find themselves at the mercy of betrayal from within. The whispers of trust shattered echo a sentiment familiar to many, reminding that deception can lurk in the most unexpected places.
