Harry Redknapp revises planning proposal for Dorset property
Harry Redknapp has lodged fresh planning proposals to knock down his £1.5million property in Dorset and construct an expansive five-bedroom residence in its place, reports BritPanorama.
The 78-year-old former Premier League manager submitted the application through his company, Pierfront Developments, to Bournemouth Council.
The proposed mansion in Poole would include five en-suite bedrooms, a separate garage, and a pool house featuring amenities like a sauna, steam room, hot tub, and bar area.
According to the planning submission, replacing the existing 1970s white rendered dwelling would represent “a significant improvement to the character and appearance of the site.” This latest submission follows two unsuccessful attempts by Redknapp to develop the site with a pair of properties intended for sale. Both applications, submitted in 2023 and 2024, were turned down by the local authority, and subsequent appeals were also dismissed.
Redknapp has now revised his approach, seeking permission for a single dwelling rather than the dual-property scheme that previously drew opposition. The scaled-back proposal appears to address concerns raised during earlier planning battles with the council and local residents, who opposed the original development plans. The Branksome Park & Canford Cliffs Residents Association has previously expressed strong opposition to Redknapp’s ambitions for the site.
The group accused him of attempting to “compromise the Conservation Area’s integrity” with his earlier proposals. In response, a spokesman for the association stated: “The design still aims to split the site, increasing the density of the plot, with a modern palette of materials, which are not in keeping with the surroundings nor compliant with the sustainable agenda set out in the Local Plan.” Neighbours had also described the proposed houses as “overbearing and dominant.” Bournemouth Council is expected to deliver its verdict on the latest proposal early in the new year.
This development forms part of a broader property portfolio that Redknapp and his wife, Sandra, are pursuing through their company in the Poole area. Pierfront Developments has already secured approval for a block of nine flats locally, while another scheme will involve the demolition of an existing building to make way for 16 apartments. The former football manager, who won I’m a Celebrity in 2018, has shifted his focus to property development following his retirement from the sport. As the landscape evolves, Redknapp’s ongoing ventures highlight the constant balancing act between local aspirations and planning complexities.
