Harry Kane leads Bayern Munich to Champions League victory over Real Madrid
Harry Kane has explained why he was seen staring into the stands following Bayern Munich’s 2-1 Champions League win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night, reports BritPanorama.
The German giants secured a crucial victory, with Kane netting the winner after Luis Diaz opened the scoring. Kylian Mbappe pulled one back for Real late on, but it wasn’t enough as Vincent Kompany’s side held a slender lead going into the second leg.
At full-time, Kane was spotted scanning the crowd, visibly pleased after propelling his side to victory. When asked what he was looking for, the 32-year-old said: “That was where my family is sitting. Trying to find my wife and my family but couldn’t quite. So they are somewhere.”
The match between the two European superpowers lived up to expectations, with Bayern displaying superiority on the night. Kompany’s side could have won by a greater margin, but Real’s late goal provided hope of a turnaround in the second leg at the Allianz Arena next Wednesday.
Kane noted the significance of the win, stating: “All the hype surrounding it, coming to Madrid and trying to get a result – it’s always difficult… We can be very happy with the win heading into the second leg.” Meanwhile, Bayern manager Kompany emphasized the need for his side to maintain momentum heading into the crucial next match, acknowledging the challenge posed by a determined Real Madrid.
As for Real’s coach, Alvaro Arbeloa, he remained optimistic despite the defeat, asserting, “We’re still in it. That’s clear. We’re one goal away from leveling the tie. We’re capable of winning on any pitch, and we’ve shown that with the chances we’ve had.”
This match serves as yet another reminder of the thin margins in elite football, where triumph and despair often coexist. A comeback in the second leg could invigorate Real Madrid’s storied campaign, while Bayern Munich will be eager to solidify their advantage.
