George Russell’s girlfriend undergoes appendicitis surgery
George Russell’s girlfriend, Carmen Mundt, has had surgery after being diagnosed with appendicitis. The 28-year-old Spanish-born influencer confirmed on social media that the emergency operation was successful, reports BritPanorama.
Mundt is currently recovering in the hospital, where Russell is by her side. She shared a photo of herself smiling from her hospital bed, with Russell present to support her during recovery.
The influencer had kept her followers updated throughout her health struggles, revealing she experienced nausea for approximately twelve hours before doctors suspected appendicitis. Upon confirmation, she expressed her gratitude, writing: “It was appendicitis! Surgery went well and recovering in the best company.”
Mundt’s surgery came at an inconvenient time, as she was poised to share news about a special project she had been developing for nearly two years. She remarked, “I was planning to share something really special with you today, but it will have to wait,” while reminding her audience that “life is not as perfect as it looks on social media.”
Russell and Mundt’s relationship began in 2020 under unexpected circumstances. Initially, Russell had intended to pair Mundt with a friend, but due to a change in plans, he attended himself. Despite being unfamiliar with Russell’s fame in Formula 1 at the time, Mundt’s down-to-earth nature resonated with him. “She didn’t know who I was, she didn’t know F1 and wasn’t even bothered by any of that,” he stated, highlighting their shared values.
As for Russell’s racing career, he concluded a solid 2025 season, securing fourth place in the Drivers’ Championship. With the 2026 F1 season set to commence on March 8, he is preparing for what lies ahead.
It’s a poignant reminder of how life’s unpredictability weaves through the personalities at the pinnacle of sport, where even the most accomplished faces challenges beyond the track.
