Support for Brooklyn Beckham amid family dispute

A former youth coach who worked with Brooklyn Beckham at Queens Park Rangers has publicly supported the 26-year-old as he navigates a contentious dispute with his parents. Anthony McCool, who has also coached at Norwich and Bradford, took to LinkedIn to express sympathy for Beckham during this challenging period, reports BritPanorama.

McCool observed what he described as a “strange dynamic” while coaching Brooklyn, mentioning feelings of visible anxiety in the young player. “Brooklyn Beckham getting piled on. But I felt sorry for the lad. I did see some bizarre carry on as his football coach at QPR & certainly seen the anxiety,” he wrote.

At just 14 years old, Brooklyn was coached by McCool at the west London club. The coach highlighted the unique pressures faced by the eldest Beckham child during his formative years in football, noting, “My short window into that life left me some funny stories, also some sad ones and I realised how tough it must have been for the lad.”

While many famous footballers have children who pursue their own careers in the sport, McCool remarked that Brooklyn’s circumstances were particularly intense. He reflected on the unusual experience of having constant security personnel around a teenager. “But this spell was on another serious level. It would make a good chapter in my book,” McCool stated. He further expressed, “Being super wealthy & famous isn’t an automatic ticket to happiness,” and noted the difficulty of judging the situation from an outsider’s perspective.

Brooklyn, in a public statement earlier this week, accused his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of prioritising their public image over family unity, alleging attempts to sabotage his marriage to Nicola Peltz. He stated, “I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” adding that the pressures from his parents had compelled him to speak out.

“I do not want to reconcile with my family,” he emphasised, declaring that he was asserting himself for the first time in his life. He claimed that endless “lies” had been placed in the media by his parents to maintain their public facade.

As the situation develops, McCool expressed optimism for eventual reconciliation within the Beckham family, while also reflecting on the complexities of navigating familial relationships under such scrutiny.
