Erling Haaland adds unique Mercedes Maybach to his car collection
Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has expanded his already impressive £10 million vehicle collection with the acquisition of an exceptionally rare Mercedes Maybach Virgil Abloh, valued at approximately £400,000, reports BritPanorama.
The Norwegian striker, earning a weekly salary of £500,000, effectively spent the bulk of his seven-day earnings on the remarkable car. The limited edition luxury saloon represents one of only 150 examples ever produced, making it a highly sought-after collector’s piece.
The bespoke S-Class variant was created in collaboration with Virgil Abloh, the celebrated Louis Vuitton artistic director who passed away at just 41 years old following a battle with a rare form of cancer. The vehicle was completed prior to Abloh’s death in 2021, fortifying its status as a prized item within the exclusive second-hand market for ultra-premium automobiles.
As the final custom S-Class model produced through the partnership with the renowned designer, the Maybach has become particularly desirable among wealthy collectors seeking unique automotive pieces with significant cultural provenance. Finished in a distinctive two-tone design, the vehicle features glossy Obsidian Black across the upper section while sand-coloured paintwork adorns the lower regions, side panels, and wheels.
Inside, Abloh’s signature logo appears prominently on the centre console, rear cushions, headrests, and door sill panels, with a specially designed digital display incorporating unique coloured borders and brand insignia. Powering the left-hand drive luxury saloon is a formidable 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, enabling acceleration from standstill to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 155 mph, with all-wheel drive as standard.
Haaland’s automotive portfolio extends well beyond his latest Mercedes acquisition, incorporating several other prestigious vehicles valued in the millions. Among his prized possessions is a £350,000 Aston Martin DBX 707, a special edition model based on the Formula 1 safety car, as well as a £300,000 Rolls-Royce Cullinan and a £160,000 Porsche 911 GT3.
The combined value of these four vehicles alone approaches £1.2 million, representing just a fraction of his estimated £10 million total collection. Haaland’s next scheduled match for City is against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Saturday.
In a sport where the spectacle often overshadows the machinery, Haaland’s penchant for high-end automobiles serves as a reminder of how closely intertwined the worlds of football and luxury living have become. Each car, with its bespoke finishes and rich histories, echoes the personality of its owner — a testament not just to personal wealth, but to a broader narrative of aspiration in modern football.
