Emma Louise Jones takes helm at Speedway Grand Prix series
Emma Louise Jones has landed an exciting new role as the face of the Speedway Grand Prix series on TNT Sports, reports BritPanorama.
The popular Leeds United supporter unveiled her latest career move at the SGP media day in Lodz, Poland, where she expressed her enthusiasm for the role that marks her entry into the world of motorsport.
Jones will make her presenting debut when the World Cup semi-final takes place in Landshut, Germany, on May 1, where Great Britain will face the host nation on their home soil. Her appointment is seen as an exciting development in motorsport broadcasting, bringing her trademark warmth and energy into the high-speed event.
During the media day, Jones noted the impressive capabilities of speedway bikes, which accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just one second, surpassing even the speed of a Formula One car. “I said I would like to have a go, that would be brilliant,” she remarked, showcasing her adventurous spirit. However, her enthusiasm was tempered when other riders began recounting their injury experiences. “I was like ‘OK, might swerve it!'” she admitted, though she remains eager to embrace the challenge of the sport.
Her father, who grew up watching speedway, expressed pride and nostalgia regarding her new role. “I think this is the most proud my dad has been of me. He was like ‘Emma, I used to go and watch that as a kid, I love it’,” she shared, indicating the personal significance of this opportunity for her family.
Jones is stepping into a role previously occupied by several notable female broadcasters, including Suzi Perry and Natalie Quirk. “I’m fully aware of the big shoes I have to fill. All of those women I’ve looked up to and admired,” she acknowledged. She also plans to invite some Leeds United players, like Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Daniel James, to the British Grand Prix in Manchester this June, although she joked that she doesn’t expect them to get on the bikes.
With her engaging personality and a strong connection to the sport, Emma Louise Jones is set to bring a fresh perspective to the Speedway Grand Prix series, blending her love for racing with a touch of her unique charm.
