David Schumacher announces engagement
David Schumacher has revealed his engagement to fellow racing driver Vivien Keszthelyi, following a proposal during a romantic getaway to the Maldives, reports BritPanorama.
The 24-year-old, who competes in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup with HRT Ford Performance, shared the news on Instagram alongside images of the picturesque setting. He expressed his joy with a heartfelt caption: “She said yes. The ocean witnessed our love, and the sunset sealed our promise. 05.11.2025.”
Vivien, also 24, acknowledged the positive response from fans, stating, “Thank you all so much for your beautiful wishes and kind words! We’re truly touched by all the love and support.”
This engagement comes as a bright moment for the Schumacher family, who have experienced significant difficulties over the past decade. Almost twelve years ago, Michael Schumacher, David’s uncle and a seven-time Formula One world champion, suffered a severe brain injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013. He continues to receive care at the family’s homes in Switzerland and Mallorca.
Michael has not been seen publicly since the accident, and his wife Corinna has maintained strict privacy regarding his condition, allowing only a select few to visit. In a recent discussion, a French journalist suggested that a signed helmet for charity by Michael was a hopeful sign, although medical experts remain cautious about his recovery.
The news of David’s engagement offers a welcome influx of positivity amid ongoing family tensions. Notably, this follows David’s father Ralf Schumacher’s public relationship with French business manager Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne, which has stirred controversy, particularly with Ralf’s ex-wife Cora. The dynamic remains complicated as Cora has accused Ralf of betrayal, igniting a public feud that has drawn David into a defensive role.
Ralf, who celebrated his son’s engagement with a “like” on Instagram, is no stranger to controversy himself. Following a racing incident in 2022 where David sustained a spinal injury, family tensions intensified, particularly given Cora’s aggressive stance toward the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Amid these challenges, the love story between David and Vivien stands as a refreshing chapter within the family narrative, highlighting the enduring bonds that motorsport can foster despite personal trials. David’s journey and commitment to his racing career reflect the complexities of family relationships intertwined with a shared passion for racing.
For David and Vivien, this engagement amidst family upheaval is a brief reminder of the joys that remain, even as the shadows of past tragedies loom large. In the world of motorsport, where triumph and turmoil often coexist, this moment offers a glimmer of hope and celebration.
