Cristiano Ronaldo departs Saudi Arabia amid escalating conflict

Cristiano Ronaldo’s £61 million private aircraft departed Saudi Arabia during the night hours, suggesting the football icon may be escaping the intensifying military situation in the region, reports BritPanorama.

The Saudi capital Riyadh, where the Portuguese star resides with his partner Georgina Rodriguez and their five children, has been subjected to Iranian bombardment as hostilities now extend into their fourth consecutive day.

Flight tracking data indicated that the Bombardier Global Express aircraft completed a journey of nearly seven hours to Madrid. The luxury jet took off at 8:00 PM and landed in the Spanish capital around 1:00 AM, having traversed via Egypt and over the Mediterranean Sea.

The conflict’s escalation has seen drone strikes on the U.S. embassy in Riyadh and Iranian state media claiming responsibility for attacks on a command facility in Bahrain. Foreign nationals are now fleeing the region in large numbers as security concerns mount.

The U.S. State Department has issued urgent guidance advising American citizens to evacuate from over a dozen Middle Eastern countries due to escalating safety risks. Many flights bound for Riyadh are now reversing course as thousands attempt to exit the chaotic environment of the conflict.

This mass exodus highlights the growing international alarm surrounding the military confrontation, disrupting commercial aviation routes to Saudi Arabia as the situation deteriorates.

Ronaldo acquired the Bombardier Global Express 6500 in 2024, upgrading from a Gulfstream G200 he purchased for £16 million back in 2015. The aircraft features accommodation for up to 15 passengers, complete with a lounge area, a bedroom suite, and a shower room, reflecting the luxury typically associated with the football star.

With the jet now bearing Ronaldo’s personal branding and recent social media showcases including voyages by Rodriguez, the spectacle of his travel underscores both the personal and geopolitical complexities facing individuals of influence amid crises.

As international tensions heighten, Ronaldo’s departure serves as a stark reminder of the intricate interplay between celebrity, safety, and global instability. With sport and politics intertwined, the footballer’s next steps may well resonate beyond the pitch, reflecting broader realities in an increasingly volatile world.
