Conor McGregor undergoes Ibogaine treatment
Conor McGregor has described undergoing an intense medical treatment involving the psychoactive compound Ibogaine, saying the experience prompted a profound reassessment of his life, reports BritPanorama.
The former UFC champion, who recently returned to social media following a two-month absence, stated that the treatment took place in Tijuana, Mexico, and was supervised by doctors involved in clinical research. McGregor explained his treatment at a facility called AMBIO after consulting with medical professionals from Stanford University.
Ibogaine is currently being studied globally for its potential role in treating trauma and substance use disorders. McGregor shared on X that the treatment triggered vivid and emotional visions, primarily related to his children and his own mortality.
He claimed the experience led him to reflect on the implications of his absence from their lives. “I was shown what would have been my death,” he wrote, adding that he witnessed the consequences and timing of that event on his family.
McGregor characterized the treatment as the “most enlightening and enchanting experience” he has ever undertaken, stating it was “worth its weight in GOLD.” He described feeling renewed and attributed his recovery to a spiritual experience, saying he felt “saved” and emphasized a new commitment to living with greater responsibility.
The 37-year-old has not competed in the UFC since suffering a serious leg injury in July 2021. He has expressed interest in returning to competition, indicating a possible appearance on a UFC event planned for Washington, D.C., in June, informally dubbed a “White House card.” While no fight has been officially confirmed, McGregor suggested his supporters could expect an exciting return, stating, “Baby, we did it! The world is in for a treat!”
As he navigates this new chapter, it remains to be seen how his experiences will shape his approach inside and outside the octagon. For McGregor, the road ahead is not just about physical fights but about reconciling the lessons learned during his transformative journey.
