Colin Kazim-Richards appointed as Crawley Town head coach
Colin Kazim-Richards has been appointed as the new head coach of Crawley Town, marking his first senior management role at the age of 39, reports BritPanorama.
The former Turkey international steps into the position following the dismissal of Scott Lindsey, whose tenure ended after a disappointing spell that saw Crawley earn just five points from ten matches, leaving them 21st in the League Two table and only one point clear of the relegation zone.
Kazim-Richards, who retired from professional football in 2023, has spent the past two years enhancing his coaching skills within Arsenal’s youth academy, having initially trained there as a young player. During his playing career, he represented 18 clubs across six countries, starting at Bury and Brighton before moving to notable teams such as Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Olympiacos.
His playing record includes 37 caps for Turkey and a key role in their Euro 2008 semi-final run. Lindsey was let go just one year after returning to the club for a second spell, having previously led Crawley to League One via a play-off victory in 2024.
Crawley owner Raphael Khalili stated, “Following a thorough and highly competitive recruitment process, Colin distinguished himself as an outstanding candidate. He is a natural leader with extensive experience in the dressing room, and we firmly believe he is the right person to guide the club forward at this important time.” He also highlighted Kazim-Richards’s ability to connect with players and foster a strong team spirit as essential qualities for turning the club’s fortunes around.
Currently, Crawley sits at the brink of relegation, level on points with Newport County, who occupy the final relegation spot, with only goal difference keeping the Red Devils out of the bottom three.
As Kazim-Richards takes the reins, the challenge ahead is clear: reviving the team’s spirit and performances in a season that has quickly turned into a battle for survival in the competitive landscape of League Two. His diverse experience across multiple leagues and cultures could be pivotal as Crawley seeks to restore pride and stability under new leadership.
