Chelsea identifies source of confidential information leak

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has confirmed that the club has addressed the issue of confidential team information being leaked ahead of their Champions League matches against Paris Saint-Germain, reports BritPanorama.

The club conducted an internal investigation after accurate leaks of their starting lineups emerged prior to both matches against the French side. Chelsea has now pinpointed the individual responsible for the disclosures.

During his pre-Everton press conference, Rosenior stated that the source of the leaks was not within the playing squad. “We know (who it is),” he said. “It’s not come from any place of malicious intent to me or to the team.”

The leaks originated externally, rather than stemming from within the dressing room. French media outlets had published the team’s starting XI ahead of the first leg in Paris, while similar reports correctly predicted changes to the lineup for the second leg.

Following these incidents, Chelsea initiated an inquiry to determine how sensitive information was conveyed to the press. The club is now satisfied that it has traced the origin of the leaks and has taken appropriate action.

Rosenior emphasised there was no ill intent behind the breaches, indicating that the matter has been resolved without major disciplinary measures. Meanwhile, Trevoh Chalobah faces a significant absence after being stretchered off during the closing minutes of the second leg due to a challenge from PSG defender Achraf Hakimi.

Chalobah, who underwent medical assessments, is expected to miss around six weeks. Rosenior expressed a sense of relief that the injury was less severe than initially feared, stating, “Obviously, it’s never good that Trevoh is out for any period of time, but fortunately, it’s not as serious as we first feared.”

Updates on other players included Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who has undergone a minor operation and will be sidelined for several weeks. Captain Reece James, currently managing a hamstring issue, will be assessed after the international break, while Levi Colwill has returned to first-team training following a long-term ACL injury.

With a string of injuries and the recent leaks, Chelsea continues to navigate through turbulent times as they prepare for future matches.
