Celebrations of Beckham and Messi at MLS Cup reveal awkward dance moments

David Beckham and Lionel Messi’s MLS celebrations contrast in enthusiasm

David Beckham and Lionel Messi’s celebrations following Inter Miami’s historic MLS Cup victory have drawn attention for their contrasting levels of enthusiasm, reports BritPanorama.

At the post-match party, Beckham was visibly joyful, leading a conga line with several players eagerly following him. In stark contrast, Messi and fellow Argentine Rodrigo De Paul appeared somewhat disengaged as they participated in the celebratory dance, noticeably not joining the others by putting their arms on each other’s shoulders.

Fans observed that both Messi and De Paul seemed less invested in the festivities compared to Beckham, whose exuberance stood out in sharp relief. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, in particular, was deemed to be unenthusiastic, with spectators remarking on his apparent discomfort in the celebration.

Comments on social media reflected this sentiment, with one user humorously suggesting that Messi, having experienced numerous celebrations, would rather have headed home. Another remarked that he appeared as if he were forced to attend, capturing the general perception that Messi was merely going through the motions during the party.

The celebrations followed Inter Miami’s triumphant match against Vancouver Whitecaps, where they secured their first domestic championship with a 3-1 victory. Messi played a crucial role in this success, assisting De Paul’s goal after dispossessing an opponent and threading him through on goal. His remarkable passing also set up the stoppage-time goal that initiated the wild celebrations.

The MLS Cup victory marks the 30th major honour in Messi’s illustrious career, further enriching his extensive collection of silverware. Beckham, watching from the directors’ box alongside his wife Victoria, was joined by their sons, Romeo and Cruz, who celebrated with the trophy on the pitch. However, their eldest son, Brooklyn, was absent from the festivities.

This moment exemplifies how sporting triumphs can lead to varied expressions of joy among iconic figures, underscoring the diversity of human reaction in public celebrations. As Beckham shines in unrestrained delight, Messi’s more reserved demeanor serves as a reminder of the pressures even world-class athletes face in the limelight.
