Bukayo Saka signs new five-year contract with Arsenal, securing future at club

Bukayo Saka commits long-term future to Arsenal

Bukayo Saka has committed his long-term future to Arsenal by agreeing a new five-year contract that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until 2031, reports BritPanorama.

The updated agreement supersedes the winger’s existing contract, which was due to expire in 2027.

According to reports, the enhanced deal has been structured at a level that acknowledges his position among the Premier League and European game’s foremost talents. The 24-year-old will become one of Arsenal’s highest-paid players under the new arrangement.

Sky Sports reported that while clubs throughout England and across the continent had been tracking his situation, Saka’s preference was always to remain with the north London side. A product of Arsenal’s Hale End academy, Saka made his senior bow for the club in 2018 and has since amassed 290 appearances across all competitions.

During that time, he has contributed 77 goals and 67 assists for the Gunners. In the Premier League alone, the winger has featured 217 times, registering 57 goals and 48 assists. His 2023/24 campaign saw him assume the captain’s armband for the first time while finishing as Arsenal’s leading scorer with 20 goals.

Last term brought 12 goals and 13 assists in 37 outings, despite a three-month absence following hamstring surgery in December 2024. This season has yielded seven goals and six assists from 27 appearances thus far. Saka’s commitment represents the latest success in Arsenal’s strategy of securing their most valuable assets on extended terms.

The north London club has also tied down centre-back pairing William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes to fresh agreements in recent months. Academy prospects Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly have similarly penned long-term deals, with all four contracts signed during the summer. This approach reflects Arsenal’s determination to maintain the core of their title-challenging squad as they pursue major honours.

Saka’s agreement is arguably the most significant of these renewals, given his evolution into the figurehead of Mikel Arteta’s side. The England international has stepped in as captain during Martin Ødegaard’s absences while Arsenal continues its pursuit of a first league title since 2004, firmly on track with a six-point advantage at the Premier League summit over Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Their European form has been equally impressive, boasting a perfect record from their opening six Champions League fixtures this term. Saka will also be central to England’s ambitions at the 2026 World Cup, having netted 14 times in 48 senior international appearances for the Three Lions.

As Arsenal looks ahead, Arteta may opt to rest his star winger this weekend when the team travels to Fratton Park to face Championship outfit Portsmouth in the FA Cup. In a season of elevated expectations, Saka’s ongoing presence will be pivotal, underscoring how the club seeks to balance its ambitions across various competitions.
