Bradford City's late arrival delays AFC Wimbledon clash in League One

League One clash delayed due to team bus issues

A League One match between AFC Wimbledon and Bradford City has been delayed because the visitors’ team bus was late arriving at the stadium, reports BritPanorama.

The game was initially scheduled to kick off at 3pm but has since been pushed back, with a new start time yet to be confirmed. The home side issued a statement regarding the delay.

AFC Wimbledon stated: “AFC Wimbledon v Bradford City has been delayed, as the Bradford team coach is delayed en route to the Cherry Red Records Stadium. The game will still take place, with a kick-off time being confirmed in due course. Team news has also been delayed and will be announced accordingly.”

Bradford City also shared their own message, adding that the kick-off for the match had been postponed due to traffic issues affecting the team coach’s arrival at the ground. The new scheduled kick-off time is now set for 3.30pm, meaning fans will need to wait an additional half an hour for the start of the fixture.

Reactions from fans on social media were varied, with some expressing a sense of humour about the delay. One supporter quipped, “Just get on the Thameslink, lads,” while another remarked, “We’re Bradford City, we do what we want.” A third fan added, “Thank you, more time in the pub.”

In terms of league standings, AFC Wimbledon is currently positioned 16th, just five points clear of the relegation zone, putting added pressure on the team as they approach this crucial fixture. In contrast, Bradford City is thriving in the fourth position and aims to secure a spot in the League One play-offs, having won three of their last four matches.

This unexpected delay highlights the unpredictable nature of football, where logistics can alter the course of a match day with just minutes to spare, ensuring that the narrative remains as dynamic as the sport itself.
