David Brooks announces birth of daughter Lottie
Bournemouth winger David Brooks has announced the birth of his daughter, Lottie Elizabeth Brooks, born on 27 October 2025, reports BritPanorama.
The 28-year-old Welsh international first revealed his expectation of a child in June. The announcement carries profound significance, as Brooks was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma in October 2021, which led to an intense battle against cancer that required him to step away from the pitch for treatment.
Following his diagnosis, Brooks was warned that treatments might hinder his ability to have children, making the news of Lottie’s arrival particularly special for him and his wife, Flora. In a heartfelt message on social media, Brooks expressed his joy, sharing, “Our beautiful baby girl… Special addition to our family @florabrooks_ Love you.”
Reflecting on his health challenges, Brooks indicated that the possibility of fatherhood had once seemed uncertain. “When I was diagnosed, there was never any guarantees that I would be able to have children… I was really lucky that it’s happened naturally,” he stated.
His journey back to health began with the completion of his treatment in May 2022, after which he announced he was cancer-free. Brooks has since returned to his football career, participating regularly in Premier League matches, a testament to his resilience and determination. He has started seven times this season, aiming for a spot in the Wales squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, continuing his aspirations alongside the national team under coach Craig Bellamy.
Throughout this journey, Brooks has been vocal about the mental challenges of facing cancer, receiving unwavering support from fans and the medical staff. The Bournemouth community has rallied around him, demonstrating their solidarity with a minute’s applause held at every home game. This support is echoed in Brooks’s gratitude towards those who have stood by him through his trials, further underscoring the intertwined nature of sport and personal struggle.
As Brooks embraces this new chapter in his life, it serves as a poignant reminder of resilience amidst adversity, shaping not only his family future but also his professional narrative in football.
