Premier League results from the weekend

The Premier League weekend continued on Sunday with notable matches involving Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Crystal Palace, and Brighton, reports BritPanorama.

Aston Villa delivered a commanding performance against Bournemouth, winning 4-0 at Villa Park. The match began on a somber note as a clash of heads between Cherries teammates Tyler Adams and Adam Smith led to an early substitution for Bournemouth, with Smith replaced by Alex Jimenez.

Villa took control from the outset, with Emi Buendia striking a brilliant free-kick into the top corner in the 28th minute. Amadou Onana followed up with a superb effort just before half-time, establishing a two-goal lead. The visitors were further hampered when Antoine Semenyo missed a penalty after a handball from Morgan Rogers. Villa capitalised on this, with additional goals from Ross Barkley and Donyell Malen.

In another fixture, Nottingham Forest triumphed 3-1 over Leeds, continuing their strong run under manager Sean Dyche. Despite a moment of surprise when Leeds took an early lead through Lukas Nmecha, Forest quickly equalised through Ibrahim Sangare, followed by a decisive winner from Morgan Gibbs-White. Elliot Anderson sealed the victory with a late penalty.

Brentford and Newcastle’s clash

Brentford faced Newcastle and emerged victorious with a 3-1 comeback win at the Gtech Community Stadium. Newcastle began the match positively with Harvey Barnes scoring first. However, Brentford’s Kevin Schade equalised in the 56th minute, capitalising on Newcastle’s defensive lapses. With Dan Burn receiving a red card, Brentford’s Igor Thiago converted a penalty and added a second in stoppage time to cap the comeback.

In a less eventful match, Crystal Palace and Brighton played out a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park. Despite the storied rivalry, the encounter failed to ignite, with both teams struggling to find rhythm, particularly after a VAR review overturned a potential penalty for Brighton.

This weekend’s matches underscore the unpredictable nature of the Premier League, where fortunes can shift rapidly, painting a complex picture of this season’s campaign. As teams recalibrate for the challenges ahead, fans remain eager for the thrilling journeys unfolding on the pitch.
