Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul could pocket $267 million in Miami fight purse

Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua set for groundbreaking clash in Miami

Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua are poised to share an extraordinary purse when they clash at Miami’s Kaseya Center this Friday evening, with estimates suggesting the prize pot could reach a staggering $267 million, reports BritPanorama.

Initial reports indicated the two boxers would divide approximately $184 million equally, netting each fighter close to £70 million. However, Paul seemed to confirm a substantially higher figure last month when he posted on social media, stating: “Stop asking me. $267 Million.”

Should that sum prove accurate, both men stand to pocket roughly £100 million apiece from the Netflix-streamed spectacle. More conservative estimates have placed the total purse at around $174 million, while some outlets suggest figures as low as $80 million.

The 36-year-old Briton, Joshua, brings formidable credentials to this encounter, having twice held unified world heavyweight titles during a distinguished career. His professional ledger stands at 28 victories from 32 contests, with 25 wins coming by knockout. Joshua has faced elite opposition, suffering defeats only to Daniel Dubois, Oleksandr Usyk, and Andy Ruiz Jr.

The Watford-born fighter has not stepped into the ring since a fifth-round stoppage against Dubois at Wembley Stadium in September 2024. Paul, now 28, has crafted a 12-1 record transitioning from YouTube stardom to professional boxing, with seven knockouts to his name. His sole defeat came against Tommy Fury in February 2023.

Joshua enters this contest as the overwhelming favourite with bookmakers, priced at -1300 odds while Paul sits as a significant underdog at +700. The fight is anticipated to conclude swiftly, with the over/under on rounds set at just 2.5 as expectations run high for the Olympic gold medallist to dispatch his opponent quickly.

Netflix will broadcast the bout exclusively to subscribers worldwide, with no additional pay-per-view charges required. Ring walks for the main event are anticipated around 10.30 PM Eastern Time, translating to 3.30 AM for British viewers. This contest has been sanctioned by the Florida Athletic Commission as an official professional heavyweight bout, scheduled for eight three-minute rounds.

Both fighters will don standard 10oz gloves, and knockouts are permitted in what constitutes a fully legitimate professional contest. Former world champion Anthony Crolla predicted a swift conclusion, stating: “I’ll be absolutely shocked if this goes into the third round. I believe it will be all over within two.”

Joshua himself has poured cold water on suggestions that this fight represents his most lucrative engagement, telling TMZ: “Unfortunately, it’s not [the biggest purse of my career].” He reportedly received $75 million for his rematch with Usyk and $72 million following his 2019 victory over Andy Ruiz Jr.

Oriana Morrison, a sports and entertainment accountant, offered perspective on the potential windfall, noting that even the lower reported figures would rival the purses seen in the Mayweather versus Pacquiao and Mayweather versus McGregor bouts. Looking ahead, Joshua expects to use this bout as a stepping stone toward a significant 2026, with a February fight in Riyadh and a potential September showdown against Tyson Fury on the horizon.

A clash of styles and backgrounds awaits, one that underscores the unpredictable nature of modern boxing. Friday night provides not just a spectacle but a unique intersection of sporting legacy and digital fame, reminding fans how captivating the sport can still be.
