Andrew Tate suffered a bruising defeat in his professional boxing debut last night, losing to Chase DeMoor at Misfits Mania in Dubai, reports BritPanorama.
The 39-year-old self-proclaimed misogynist was left bloodied after six rounds, with cuts visible around his eyes as the American reality television star retained his Misfits heavyweight title.
The judges delivered scorecards of 57-57, 58-56 and 58-56, handing DeMoor a clear victory over the former kickboxer. Tate’s return to combat sports after a five-year absence ended in humiliation, with the controversial influencer appearing deflated as he exited the ring at the Dubai Duty Tennis Stadium.
Before the bout, Tate had declared there were “levels” to fighting and promised to put DeMoor to sleep in the ring. DeMoor, 29, held significant physical advantages, standing as the larger man and outweighing his opponent by approximately 20 kilograms. The former Netflix Too Hot To Handle star was also fighting his seventh contest of 2024.
While Tate managed to connect with a solid right hand early in the opening round, DeMoor absorbed the blow without difficulty. The American remained composed, stalking his opponent methodically. By the third round, Tate appeared exhausted, with DeMoor consistently leaning on him and controlling the clinches throughout the remainder of the contest.
The quality of the contest drew sharp criticism from combat sports professionals worldwide. Former UFC champion Michael Bisping offered a blunt assessment on X, writing: “God, they both suck.” Japanese MMA fighter Kazuo ‘Grabaka Hitman’ Misaki compared the bout unfavourably to amateur events, stating it “genuinely looks like a fight from rough ‘n’ rowdy”. Northern Irish professional MMA competitor Leah McCourt delivered her own verdict during the action: “This fight is going exactly like I knew… Not a great fight.”
Speaking after the defeat, Tate reflected on the challenge he had undertaken. He said: “10 years out, 40 years old. I gave it my all, but he’s tough.” Tate added that he would need to review footage before deciding whether to continue fighting, indicating he may permanently retire from combat sports, acknowledging that age had caught up with him. He maintained he was not disappointed, having sought a “real challenge” rather than an easy opponent.
Tate’s previous ring appearance was a kickboxing victory in Romania in December 2020, where he defeated Cosmin Lugarar. His kickboxing record stands at 76 wins, nine defeats and one draw.
