Amir Khan urges caution for couples planning weddings at The Balmayna
Former world champion boxer Amir Khan has urged couples to reconsider booking their nuptials at The Balmayna, a luxury wedding venue in Bolton where he serves as landlord, reports BritPanorama.
The 39-year-old took to social media platform X to announce he is pursuing legal proceedings against the venue’s operator amid an ongoing rent dispute. Khan alleges that Excellency Group, the company managing the four-storey glass-fronted establishment, has failed to make rental payments for close to three years.
The venue operator has firmly rejected these assertions, branding them unfounded and maintaining that all scheduled events will proceed without disruption. Excellency Group contends that Khan’s public comments are “misinformed, baseless,” and should be disregarded.
In his statement on social media, Khan expressed concern for those who have booked events at The Balmayna. “We advise anyone who has booked the wedding to hold off until this issue is resolved, as I would not want you to risk losing your money or deposits,” he stated.
Khan’s claims hinge on the assertion that Mohammad Jaberansari, director of Excellency Group, has not fulfilled rental obligations since an initial 18-month rent-free period concluded. He added, “I regret to inform you that I am taking legal action regarding this situation.”
The Balmayna responded via Instagram, stating that Amir Khan has no involvement in the ownership, management, or operation of the venue. They characterised the dispute as a private matter between landlord and tenant, being managed through the proper legal channels.
Despite the controversy, the venue has sought to reassure clients that confirmed bookings and deposits remain entirely unaffected by the dispute. “Balmayna remains fully operational, financially secure, and committed to delivering the exceptionally high standards for which we are known,” the venue asserted.
