Family rift deepens as Adam Peaty’s mother posts emotional messages
Caroline Peaty has posted a series of cryptic messages on social media this New Year’s Eve morning, just days after being excluded from her son Adam’s wedding to Holly Ramsay, reports BritPanorama.
These posts suggest that the Olympic swimmer’s mother is grappling with the emotional fallout from the family rift surrounding the wedding. One poignant message read: “I won’t end this year pretending everything was fine. I lost a piece of myself this year that I will never get back, and I’m not forcing a smile like it didn’t change me.” Caroline went on to express her hope for healing in the coming year, stating, “I’ll be praying that I recover next year, that my heart never has to break like this again… I deserve a year that doesn’t hurt.”
The marriage took place at Bath Abbey on December 27, with approximately 200 guests in attendance, yet the absence of many of Adam’s relatives raised eyebrows. Notably, only one member of the Peaty family, Adam’s sister Bethany, attended the ceremony, serving as a bridesmaid for the bride.
Reports indicate that the family dispute originated from a disagreement over a dress Caroline had purchased for the occasion, which the couple reportedly did not approve of. Before the ceremony, Caroline shared her feelings, saying, “I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out.” This sentiment reflects the deeper familial tensions that marred what was meant to be a celebratory event.
Caroline’s distress was compounded by the Christmas period, which she characterized as the “first Christmas that I’ve not had my family together.” She expressed sorrow over the split within the family, despite having other children and grandchildren, commenting that they are “broken because of the goings on because of the wedding.”
In a further display of family discord, Adam’s aunt Louise, who was also unable to attend the wedding, sent a pointed text message to her nephew on his wedding day. In the message, she stated, “I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame.” This text highlighted the significant emotional toll the situation has taken on the family.
Louise’s message concluded with a stark reminder to Adam and Holly about the pain inflicted: “Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.” This underscores the extent of the family division surrounding what should have been a joyous occasion for the Olympic champion and his new bride.
Peaty and his new wife have since embarked on their honeymoon after officially going public with their relationship in June 2023.
The juxtaposition of celebration and heartbreak illustrates how personal relationships can become entangled in public life, reminding us how quickly joy can fracture under the weight of familial expectations.
