Adam Peaty faces family turmoil as aunt criticizes wedding decision moments before vows

Adam Peaty’s wedding marred by family controversy

Olympic champion Adam Peaty received a scathing text message from his aunt Louise just moments before exchanging vows with Holly Ramsay at Bath Abbey on Saturday, reports BritPanorama.

The 30-year-old swimmer walked into the historic church clutching the hand of his five-year-old son George, only to find a damning notification awaiting him. His aunt, who was herself excluded from the guest list, sent the message to condemn Peaty and his bride for their decision to uninvite his mother Caroline from the ceremony.

The text branded the couple’s actions shameful, casting a shadow over what should have been an entirely joyous occasion. The full contents of the message, as reported by the Daily Mail, laid bare the depth of family animosity.

“I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame,” Louise wrote. She continued with words designed to haunt the newlyweds for years to come, declaring, “Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.”

The swimmer’s great aunt Jane also spoke out, expressing her sorrow for Caroline. “I can’t believe he’s done this to his mother, who’s done so much for him from an early age. To be treated like this is not kind,” she stated.

The rift between Peaty and his 59-year-old mother reportedly began during preparations for the couple’s engagement party when members of the swimmer’s extended family were excluded from celebrations. Tensions escalated when Caroline was not invited to Holly’s hen do, despite the presence of high-profile guests.

On the eve of the wedding, Caroline revealed the fallout had left her devastated, stating, “I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me.” She added that it felt as though the couple “have cut my heart out.”

The situation took a more serious turn following Peaty’s Budapest stag do when he allegedly received threatening messages that prompted Holly to contact police. His brother James was subsequently arrested and placed on bail over the allegations.

Despite the family turmoil, the ceremony attracted an impressive array of celebrity guests, with David and Victoria Beckham attending alongside their children. Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies and former Strictly Come Dancing presenter Dan Walker were also present at the historic venue.

Gordon Ramsay walked his 25-year-old daughter down the aisle, sharing photographs on social media with a heartfelt tribute. “I’m truly so lucky being able to walk this beautiful bride down the aisle and gaining an incredible son-in-law @adam_peaty!” the celebrity chef wrote. From the groom’s side, only his younger sister Bethany attended, serving as one of Holly’s bridesmaids.

His mother, father, and brothers James and Richard were absent from proceedings. The newlyweds departed the abbey at approximately 1.30pm before travelling to Georgian manor Kin House for their reception.

In a way, this wedding encapsulates the contrasts of public life: a dazzling ceremony against a backdrop of family discord. It serves as a reminder that even amidst celebration, unresolved tensions lie in the shadows, ready to resurface at any moment.
