Sir Keir Starmer today ruled out British troops joining the United States bombing campaign against Iran, reports BritPanorama.
The Prime Minister faced further strain with Donald Trump as he defended his initial refusal to allow the Americans to use UK bases for their operations. Despite the tension, Starmer later indicated a shift in policy, permitting the use of RAF Fairford and Diego Garcia to strike Tehran following Iran’s aggressive retaliatory actions that could threaten British citizens.

Starmer explained to MPs, “The United Kingdom was not involved in the initial strikes on Iran by the US and Israel. That decision was deliberate. We believe that the best way forward for the region and for the world is a negotiated settlement in which Iran agrees to give up any aspirations to develop a nuclear weapon and ceases its destabilising activity across the region.”
