Poll shows Green Party support drops sharply after voters learn about leader's past

Poll reveals mixed support for Green Party leader Zack Polanski

A recent poll indicates that a significant portion of the UK electorate, approximately a third of adults, expresses interest in the Green Party; however, this support diminishes sharply when information about its leader, Zack Polanski, comes to light, reports BritPanorama.

The poll conducted by the think tank More in Common revealed that while initial support for the Greens stood at 33 percent, it plummeted to 16 percent after voters learned of Polanski’s controversial past as a hypnotherapist, where he claimed to use hypnosis to promote breast enlargement.

Moreover, 54 percent of respondents stated they would “definitely” not consider voting for the Greens if Polanski remains in charge. His previous remarks as a Harley Street practitioner—where he touted his ability to materially alter physical appearances through therapy—have reportedly caused lasting damage to his and the party’s public image.

Polanski later issued an apology for his past claims, attempting to distance himself from his former profession. Nonetheless, the polling results suggest that his history continues to overshadow his political aspirations.

Voter concerns extend beyond Polanski himself; the poll also highlighted unease regarding the Green Party’s radical policies on defence and security. A notable segment of voters, around 20 percent, expressed hesitation in supporting Polanski, citing trust issues regarding his ability to ensure national safety.

In a separate YouGov poll, the political landscape showed Reform UK leading at 25 percent, with the Greens at 19 percent, surpassing the Labour Party, which secured 17 percent, equal with the Conservative Party.

In response to the need for improved economic legitimacy, Polanski is set to announce today his plans to reform the UK’s financial system by proposing an exit from what he describes as the “bond market doom loop.”

The Green Party’s evolving narrative reflects ongoing challenges as it navigates the complexities of public perception, especially against the backdrop of Polanski’s controversial past.

As the political landscape evolves, the Green Party may need to recalibrate its messaging and leadership strategies to address public concerns regarding its viability as a serious contender in UK politics.
