Mother of murder victim urges Sir Keir Starmer to tighten asylum policies in the UK

Mother of murdered asylum hotel worker calls for tighter immigration controls

Siobhan Whyte, the mother of Rhiannon Skye Whyte, who was murdered by an asylum seeker, has urged Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer to take immediate action to prevent “scumbags” from entering the UK, reports BritPanorama.

Rhiannon, 27, was fatally attacked at the Bescot Stadium train station in Walsall on October 20, 2024. Deng Chol Majek, the assailant originally from Sudan, had arrived in the UK just three months prior and was staying at the hotel where Rhiannon worked. Majek, who misrepresented his age as 19, has since been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 29 years for his crime.

At a press conference alongside Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, Siobhan expressed her grief and demanded a crackdown on immigration policies, stating, “Something needs to be done… it’s not Rhiannon who will be next.” Her remarks spotlighted rising concerns about safety linked to asylum seekers, particularly in light of her daughter’s tragic murder.

Farage echoed these sentiments, criticising the government’s perceived inaction regarding immigration policies, stating, “There is no plan with the French,” despite significant financial aid provided to address the issue. He argued that the lack of effective measures is contributing to public outrage, particularly in light of incidents like Rhiannon’s murder.

Details of the attack reveal a chilling sequence of events leading to her death, captured on CCTV. Rhiannon was last seen alive as she was followed by Majek after leaving the hotel. As she reached the deserted platform, she made a distress call to a friend just moments before the fatal encounter.

While emergency services tried to revive Rhiannon, CCTV footage showed Majek appearing carefree and carefree nearby, listening to music with friends. She succumbed to her injuries three days later in hospital, sparking further debate over safety measures and public perceptions of asylum policies.

The case has resonated deeply within the community, drawing attention to ongoing discussions about immigration, public safety, and how best to protect vulnerable citizens amid broader policy debates.

This incident underscores the complexities surrounding immigration in the UK and the balancing act between humanitarian responsibilities and domestic safety concerns.
