Nigel Farage announces Laila Cunningham as Reform UK’s candidate for Mayor of London
NIGEL Farage has announced a tough-talking mum-of-seven as his candidate to be the next Mayor of London – with a vow to end the “crimewave run by foreign criminal gangs,” reports BritPanorama.
The Reform UK leader unveiled Laila Cunningham as the party’s contender against Sadiq Khan in the 2028 race for City Hall. Cunningham, who currently serves as a Westminster councillor, has gained attention for her firm stance on crime and public safety.
Farage praised Cunningham’s commitment to the cause, stating she has demonstrated passion and the ability to advocate for her community. He highlighted her experience in taking action herself to protect her children due to perceived negligence from local police forces.
Cunningham expressed her determination to tackle crime in London, declaring her intention to be “a new sheriff in town” and to initiate “an all-out war on crime.” She voiced concerns about the city’s safety and accountability, attributing its decline directly to Sadiq Khan’s leadership.
During a press conference, Cunningham described the capital as suffering from a “rape epidemic,” amplifying her claims regarding public safety. Farage supported these assertions, criticizing the government’s inability to address crime, particularly suggesting that illegal immigration has exacerbated the issue with foreign criminal gangs operating unchecked.
Looking ahead, Farage expressed confidence that Reform UK could leverage their growing popularity to secure significant victories in the upcoming borough elections on May 7. He suggested that successes in these local elections could be conducive to a strong performance in the next general election.
Reform is currently leading the national opinion polls, and Farage is regarded as a potential frontrunner for the position of Prime Minister.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the push for reform in public safety remains a critical issue in urban governance, reflecting broader societal concerns about crime and accountability in government.
