Suella Braverman defects to Reform, sparking Conservative backlash
Suella Braverman’s defection to the Reform Party has ignited controversy, as Conservative Party officials suggested she was struggling with “mental health” issues, reports BritPanorama.

Braverman expressed strong support for Farage, stating that he continues to thrive despite attempts to silence him, highlighting his ability to articulate the feelings of disaffected citizens. She asserted, “He doesn’t get blown off course. He actually gets stronger. That is remarkable in British politics – which is filled with craven, superficial, careerists.”
Braverman will assume her role with Reform—without a by-election—immediately, indicating that she would elaborate on her reasoning to voters in Fareham later today. Her departure was not entirely unexpected, as she had been critical of Conservative leadership and had shown a willingness to challenge party policies on immigration and law enforcement.
This latest shift is a setback for Kemi Badenoch, the Tory leader, who has lost three MPs to Reform within a fortnight, marking a troubling trend for the Conservative Party as it grapples with internal dissent and external competition.
Earlier this month, Robert Jenrick, the former shadow justice secretary, was the most senior Tory to defect to Reform UK after being sacked by Badenoch for planning his departure. He was subsequently followed by Andrew Rosindell, a former shadow foreign affairs minister.
