Trump’s surgeon general nominee hearing postponed due to labor
The Senate hearing for President Donald Trump’s nominee for surgeon general, Dr. Casey Means, has been postponed as the nominee goes into labor with her first child, reports BritPanorama.
Means was set to be the first nominee to appear virtually before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee due to her pregnancy. The hearing had been scheduled just two days after her due date, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Means, who authored the best-selling “Good Energy” and is associated with the ‘Make America Healthy Again’ movement, was nominated by Trump in May after he withdrew the nomination of Dr. Janette Nesheiwat.
Throughout her public engagements, Means has advocated for holistic health, emphasizing whole foods, exercise, and reducing pharmaceutical prescriptions for chronic conditions. She has also highlighted the potential benefits of psychedelics for mental health, criticized the broad use of pesticides, and warned about the long-term effects of hormonal birth control.
As of now, the rescheduling of the hearing remains unclear.
