Irish stars Colin Farrell, Sharon Horgan, and Ruth Negga are among the nominees for tonight’s Primetime Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Farrell is nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for his performance in the Batman spin-off The Penguin. He has already won at the IFTAs, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, Critics Choice, and Satellite Awards for his work on The Penguin.

Horgan is nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for her role in Bad Sisters, the dark comedy-drama that she co-created, wrote, and executive-produced.

Negga is nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for her performance in the legal thriller Presumed Innocent.

The psychological thriller Severance from Apple TV+ and HBO’s Farrell-starring crime drama The Penguin stacked up the most nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards, outpacing The Studio and The White Lotus in the contest for television’s highest honours.

Severance received a leading 27 nominations, while The Penguinearned 24 nominations.

Hollywood satire The Studio, an Apple TV+ show starring Seth Rogen as a nervous film executive, and HBO’s The White Lotus, about murder and misdeeds at a luxury resort in Thailand, received 23 nominations each.

The 23 nominations for The Studio tied the record for a comedy in a single season, set last year by the Chicago restaurant tale The Bear.
