Warrens Bakery opens new store at London’s Liverpool Street station
Cornwall-based bakery Warrens has opened a new store at London’s Liverpool Street station, reports BritPanorama. This historic brand’s new branch is located on the main concourse of the UK’s busiest train station, offering Cornish pasties, artisan baked goods, and hot drinks.
It marks the bakery’s first travel site in London, following the success of previous railway station stores in Slough, Basingstoke, Cardiff, and Bath. The strategic location is expected to cater to the high volume of commuters and travellers passing through.
Mark Sullivan, chief executive of Warrens Bakery, noted, “Our railway station stores in Bath, Basingstoke, Slough and Cardiff are popular amongst commuters and travellers, so we’re excited to grow further in this area by opening a flagship shop in the UK’s busiest railway station. Our plan is to expand our presence in other London travel locations.”
Founded in St. Just, near Lands End, in 1860 by the Warrens and Harveys families, Warrens Bakery now operates 45 stores across the UK. The company emphasizes that its recipes have been handed down through generations and are still used today.
Katie Anderson, head of travel at Warrens Bakery, remarked, “This is quite a journey for us, from the streets of 1860 Penzance to Liverpool Street Station in 2025. Our focus has always been on quality and choice, and we’re delighted to introduce people to our famous hand-crimped pasties, delicious baked goods, and exciting new collaboration with roasted coffee experts Bridge Coffee.”
Hamish Kiernan, commercial director at Network Rail, expressed enthusiasm for the new addition, stating, “We’re so pleased to welcome Warrens Bakery to London Liverpool Street – our busiest station. When it comes to sales, bakery is one of our fastest-growing categories, and we know that passengers at Liverpool Street want quick service and convenient foods to eat on the go, without compromising on high quality. Warrens Bakery taps into all of this and will be a welcome addition to the food and drink lineup at our destination station.”
The arrival of Warrens Bakery underscores the growing trend of food and beverage outlets within train stations, as retailers adapt to evolving consumer preferences for high-quality, quick-service options in transit environments.
