Dragons’ Den personality Steven Bartlett has resigned from his directorship at the firm behind his Diary of a CEO podcast, reports BritPanorama.
The celebrity businessman no longer serves in the role at Flight Story Group, according to fresh documentation filed with Companies House, as reported by City AM.
A representative for the entrepreneur stated: “Steven Bartlett is currently in the process of consolidating his core business directorships. This is part of that ongoing process.”
City AM understands that Steven Bartlett continues his involvement with the enterprise and his Diary of a CEO podcast. A source also informed City AM that a statement is expected next week which would offer additional clarity.
Established in 2017, Diary of a CEO has emerged as amongst the globe’s most listened-to podcasts. Following his recent departure, Steven Bartlett no longer holds directorship of any enterprise registered with Companies House.
Beyond Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast, Flight Story produces programmes including We Need to Talk with Paul C Brunson and Begin Again with Davina McCall. The organisation also operates in publishing, public speaking and product sales whilst maintaining an investment division.
Flight Story remains predominantly controlled by Steven Bartlett and SB Invest Ltd, an entity he oversees and where his brother Jason serves as the sole director. Jason Bartlett assumed directorship of Flight Story Group on the identical date Steven Bartlett departed the role. Flight Story, launched in 2021, was hailed as a “world first in-house communication and talent platform.”
The firm operates not only in London but also has branches in Manchester, New York and Los Angeles. Steven Bartlett, the entrepreneur, increased his shareholding in the company by purchasing an additional 150,000 shares from co-founder Oliver Yonchev, who departed in August 2024. Bartlett was already the largest individual shareholder of the group, with a prior stake of 750,000 shares.
Steven Bartlett resigns from directorships
In July, Steven Bartlett stepped down from his role as a director of a PR firm he had acquired through Flight Story, as it was sold back to its original owner. Flight Story had previously purchased the London-based R Agency in 2022 for an undisclosed amount.
Established by Rebecca Watts in 2013, the firm has collaborated with high-profile clients such as Tinder, Hinge and What3Words. In February, City AM reported that Steven Bartlett had resigned from his position as a director of nutrition brand Huel.
The well-known entrepreneur, a long-term investor in the company, had held the role since early 2021. A spokesperson for Huel commented at the time: “Steve has recently moved to LA and is involved with so many businesses that it’s hard for him to commit time to a Huel board role. He remains an investor in the business.”
The resignation marks a significant shift for Bartlett as he focuses on streamlining his business interests. With a strong presence in the podcasting landscape, his continued investment in ventures like Flight Story highlights the enduring relevance of diverse media platforms in today’s business environment.
