The Grand Tour returns with new hosts after 2024 hiatus
The much-loved motoring show The Grand Tour has made a surprising comeback on Prime Video, featuring three new presenters: James Engelsman, Thomas Holland, and Francis Bourgeois, reports BritPanorama.
The revival of the series follows the departure of its original trio—Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May—who left in 2024. Their dynamic presence was central to the show, which focused more on the interactions among hosts than solely on the vehicles they showcased.
Holland acknowledges the challenges they face, stating, “People are totally justified in their fears. This is a difficult gig. But we’re fans of it too, and that informs everything we are trying to do here.” The new hosts are currently engaged in a promotional campaign, gathered in an upscale London hotel for a press event.
Engelsman and Holland, both seasoned presenters from their YouTube driving show Full Throttle, complement the more inexperienced Bourgeois, known for his enthusiastic trainspotting TikTok videos. The latter’s unique persona brings an unexpected twist to the show, as he mirrors the role previously played by May.
Bourgeois notes the surprise of his newfound fame, attributing part of it to a personal loss mere days before his first video went viral. He recalls, “I like to think he’s been watching over me ever since, a spirit guide, my guardian angel.”
The Grand Tour remains a globally popular series, transmitted in 240 countries, and is not shy about continuing its format of globe-trotting adventures. The new episodes promise familiarity—visiting places like Malaysia and Angola—while upholding the show’s original spirit, focusing on high-performance vehicles.
The first episode features conventional challenges involving a Corvette, a Mustang, and a Venom, while also maintaining the humor characteristic of the original series. The hosts humorously encounter Clarkson at his Diddly Squat farm, illustrating the ongoing connection to the previous format.
